British Columbians are facing what I predict will be the most important referendum in our history. The people will decide what happens to the HST. They will decide whether to say 鈥測es鈥� to a PST plus GST at 12 per cent or say 鈥渘o鈥� and keep the HST at 10 per cent.

Let鈥檚 assume that when everyone in B.C. gets to be finance minister for a day, a majority choose to throw a $3-billion chair through the office window to show how mad they are about the harmonized sales tax. The cleanup will take two years, but first there will be a provincial election to decide who holds the broom and dustpan. And the choices are becoming clear.

Mandy McPhee's safe return is a tribute to the power of social media and the enormous value of a caring community. I鈥檓 not sure which is more powerful, but when the two work together in harmony, they are indeed a force to be reckoned with.

I鈥檓 a 100 per cent believer in the HST as a fair way to tax. That is why I鈥檓 voting 鈥楴o鈥� to keep the HST.

I am completely appalled by the lack of compassion Councillor Charlie Fox and Councillor Jordan Bateman showed by bringing forward an inappropriate motion on an RCMP investigation of the mayor, at Monday鈥檚 council meeting. They were fully aware of the seriousness of the health issue of Mayor Rick Green鈥檚 family member.

the HST was unilaterally imposed through the deceptive actions of the Liberal government (they lied); and the deception seems to have continued, because just about every positive point made by the Liberals has been demonstrated to be false or extremely problematical.

Many people are concerned about having to pay back the $1.6 billion to Ottawa, should we vote 鈥測es鈥� to extinguish the HST. So far, the BC Liberals have only taken $600 million of this bribe from the Harper government.

The question was not a new one, to any firefighter. 鈥淪o, have you ever rescued a cat from a tree?鈥� In my case, the answer is yes.

The Vancouver Canucks lost the Stanley Cup on Wednesday night. The City of Vancouver, and the Metro Vancouver region, lost a reputation.

This is a call for the resignation of Councillors Charlie Fox and Jordan Bateman.
