Vancouver Symphony Orchestra鈥檚 assistant concertmaster David Lakirovich and pianist Sunny Qu will perform at 91原创 Community Music School on Sunday, March 9.

True classical music aficionados can sit down over afternoon coffee and enjoy an informal discussion with two internationally recognized musicians who are visiting 91原创 Community Music School this weekend.

The school's (LCMS) artistic director Elizabeth Bergmann, an acclaimed pianist in her own right, will lead the chat before Vancouver Symphony Orchestra鈥檚 assistant concertmaster David Lakirovich, on violin, and pianist Sunny Qu, present the next Cafe Classico concert on Sunday, March 9, in the school's Rose Gellert Hall.

"The duo will present an afternoon of enchanting melodies featuring the works of Mozart and Tchaikovsky: two timeless composers united in their mastery of melodic writing and classical structure," Bergmann said.

"David and Sunny are gifted, dynamic musicians who will absolutely thrill the audience with a program showcasing two of the most celebrated composers in classical music,鈥 she added.
The event 鈥 latest in the Classico series 鈥 starts at 2:30 p.m., and includes stories and insights into the music with the musicians, hosted by Bergmann. Then, there will be a short break before the performance at 3:15.

Lakirovich has performed in Australia, U.S.A., Canada, Israel, and Europe, including solo performances in Weill Recital Hall in Carnegie Hall, Tel Aviv, the Stradivari Museum in Italy and with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra, Scarborough Symphony, York Symphony and Chicago College of Performing Arts Symphony Orchestra.

With extensive experience as a violin-section leader, Lakirovich is also a passionate chamber musician.

Qu has performed in such venues as the Weiner Salle in Salzburg, Austria, Duke鈥檚 Hall in London, England, and the Chan Centre in his native Vancouver.

Bergmann describes him as a gifted chamber musician, saying the multi award-winning artist has also performed with numerous orchestras as well as a soloist including with the Vancouver Philharmonic Orchestra, the BC Symphony Orchestra, and the Bellflower Symphony.

"I invite our musical community to join us, sit back, and enjoy this delightful program of violin and piano repertoire in a warm and welcoming environment!鈥 Bergmann concluded.
