I would like to complain about trucks running up and down 216th Street in the middle of the night. It鈥檚 giving a taste of life once the interchange opens. It鈥檚 after 11 p.m. and dump trucks are going by every 10 minutes.

Why can these trucks not use 200th Street and 88th Avenue? Why do they go down predominantly residential 216th Street? This is why 216th Street must be removed as a truck route. There is no reason for trucks to go a different way. They don鈥檛 care about what disruption they cause in the middle of the night.

It is not the fault of the people of 216th Street that a major truck route was designated through a residential area. That should not happen in a properly planned community. Who in their right mind plans a neighbourhood that way. It was a mistake and should be rectified.

The trucks are now quite frequent in the middle of the night due to the overpass construction. How much longer does it take to go via 88th and 200th? A couple minutes? Not enough to give the trucking industry any consideration of letting residents of 216th Street of having a quiet summer night with the window open.

This is a prime example of why 216th Street should not be a truck route. The trucking industry can鈥檛 be trusted to respect the peacefulness of what is essentially a residential area. The Township needs to do right by the residents of 216th Street.
