Year two of the Hoop-A-Thon fundraiser in Aldergrove is aiming to beat the $25,000 raised for the local charities in its first year.
From noon till 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 10 at Aldergrove Community Secondary School, members of the 91原创-based Vancouver Bandits pro basketball team will be shooting hoops and chatting with participants and audience members at the Rotary Clubs of 91原创 fundraiser for youth initiatives and sports.
"This year, we are supporting Inclusion 91原创 Society, the Boys and Girls Club of 91原创, Big Brothers and Sisters of 91原创, and Kids Sport 91原创鈥, said event chair Emma Stewart.
Registered teams and players compete to see how many free throw baskets they can sink in one minute, raising funds by taking per-basket pledges or lump sum donations.
There are prizes for the player who sinks the most baskets and the team who raises the most funds.
鈥淪upporting our local community is really important to us. We loved being part of last year鈥檚 event and are looking forward to making this another successful event!鈥 said Bandits sales and service manager Pavan Kalair.
