Huge crowds wanted to check out the big new parkour course and other new amenities at Penzer Park Thursday.

The park has undergone extensive renotations and is now the largest outdoor parkour park in the nation.

The $1.3M Penzer Action Park project, with $500,000 contribution from the Government of Canada鈥檚 150 Community Infrastructure Program (CIP 150), includes new children鈥檚 natural adventure playground, a multi-use sports court, a custom concrete pump track and parkour course.

It features one-of-a-kind elements such as an structure obstacle course; six different challenge lines to show easy, medium, and hard tracks for users to follow, graphical tutorial signs for fundamental parkour movements, and QR codes on each sign link to corresponding tutorial videos that visitors can watch on their phones.

A live DJ, food trucks, instructional demos, drop-in basketball, and hockey are all part of the festivities, but the star of the show was the parkour course.

Area enthusiasts who do the sport came and demonstrated and kids clamoured all over the structures made from yellow cedar.
