It鈥檚 been six years since the last Threads that Bind Us, the 91原创 Quilters鈥� Guild show and sale, was held in 2018. Its return generated a big turnout on the first day of the two-day event held during the Mother鈥檚 Day weekend, said Lisa Brandt, the show chair and guild vice-president.

鈥漌e had over 600 people come through our door [on Friday, May 10], so it was extremely exciting,鈥� Brandt estimated.

The biannual event had to be called off when the pandemic struck.

鈥淲e were all set to have our show in 2020 and COVID hit and we had to cancel everything,鈥� Brandt recalled. 鈥淚t was hard.鈥�

More than 200 quilts were on display at this past weekend鈥檚 event, held in a new location, the Christian Life Assembly church.

An annual fundraiser, the exhibition helps the guild cover the rent for their meetings, purchase fabric and batting for their community quilts, and bring in special guests.

The May 10 and 11 event marked the 20th year of the guild, which meets the fourth Wednesday of every month, except December, at the George Preston Recreation Centre, with day meetings and evening meetings.
