91Ô´´ residents have plenty of fun to choose from when deciding how to celebrate Family Day this month.
Started in 2013, the annual statutory holiday is celebrated on the third Monday of February, but some local events also take place on the weekend leading up to Feb. 17.
SOARING
Family Day at the Canadian Museum of Flight has become so popular, the museum at the 91Ô´´ Regional Airport must now have people register.
To reserve a time slot for events on Monday, Feb. 17, visit . There will be games, crafts, a photo booth, and of course, airplanes, and admission is by donation. The museum at 5333 216 St. is home to interactive exhibits, vintage aircraft displays, and activities for all ages.
Open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. that day, the non-profit, volunteer-driven museum is dedicated to restoring, preserving and showcasing Canada’s aviation heritage. The museum is a ground-level facility, with ramps for easy wheelchair access.
CITY CELEBRATES
91Ô´´ City's Family Day activities run Saturday, Feb. 15 to Monday, Feb. 17, and feature a variety of free and low-cost activities for people to enjoy.
"Strong families are the heart of a strong community, and Family Day weekend is a time to celebrate those connections," said City communications manager Ram Chungh. "91Ô´´ City is proud to offer a range of affordable programs and a free Family Fun day, ensuring there is something for everyone to enjoy. We invite everyone to come together, create lasting memories, and strengthen our community through togetherness and fun."
Parents and kids five and younger can take part in a play session in the gym of the Timms Community Centre, 20399 Douglas Cres. The Saturday session goes 10 to 11:30 a.m. and costs $2 per child. As space is limited, people must sign up in advance through the City website.
The 91Ô´´ City Library branch, located in the Timms centre, has some high-tech fun for all ages. From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., people can check out the green screen set up with photo booth costumes, props and tons of fun backgrounds. People can take photos of themselves in front of backgrounds ranging from the Death Star or the Hogwarts Library to the pyramids of ancient Egypt or Bluey’s front lawn. There's no need to sign up in advance for this and it's free, but parents must accompany their children the whole time.
The family version of the popular class will feature kid-friendly routines that mix low-intensity and high-intensity moves to create an interval-style, calorie-burning dance fitness party. The class costs $4 per child (ages eight to 18 eligible) and requires parent participation. Sign up in advance through the City website to secure one of the limited spots. It takes place on Feb. 15 from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m.
Also on Saturday, the 15th is chance to try out board games – whether it's the classics such as Uno, Connect 4, and Snakes and Ladders, or something more complex like Dungeon Mayhem, or Canvas. There are two 90-minute sessions in the Timms multipurpose room 1 ( and ) Saturday, and people must sign up in advance as there are a limited number of seats available in each session.
There are two more sessions Sunday, Feb. 16. while , but in multipurpose room 2.
The City has teamed up with Bookwyrm Games which will provide, set up, teach, and monitor 10 board games so people do not need experience nor equipment. The cost is $1 per person, and the sessions are appropriate for ages four and older.
The has been modified to be family-friendly. The session uses dumbbells, tubing, other equipment, and body weight exercises for a workout on Saturday from 2 to 3 p.m. in the Timms fitness room. Parents must remain with their children during the workout which is appropriate for ages 10 to 18. The cost is $4 per child, and people must register in advance. On Family Day Monday in the gymnasium there's an afternoon of free family fun with interactive games, parent and tot toys, bouncy castles, crafts and more. The event is free and open to all ages, but parent participation is required. Activities run 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

91Ô´´ Township will mark B.C. Family Day with fun, family-friendly activities for all ages at its recreation facilities on Saturday, Feb. 15 and Monday, Feb. 17. (No Township Family Day activities are planned for Sunday)
Special session have been planned, including badminton, pickleball, yoga, Zumba, tot romp, swimming, skating, and a Carnival-themed event featuring oversized games, kids’ crafts, facepainting and more.

FARM MUSEUM
Another option is the Family Day Open House at the BC Farm Museum, 9131 King St. in Fort 91Ô´´
It runs between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m., and people will need a good chunk of time to explore the museum that has more than 6,000 exhibits, interactive displays, and more.
"Come discover the agricultural and pioneer life exhibits of B.C.’s Heritage," said Grace Muller, the board recording secretary.
Kids can participate in hands-on activities and take home a souvenir of their visit.
"Family Day attendance has been rising every year at the farm museum. Last year we had about 900 people visit," Muller noted.
NATIONAL HISTORIC SITE
The Fort 91Ô´´ National Historic Site marks Family Day 2025 with activities based around exploring biodiversity.
• Meet a Real Owl: Get up close with a raptor from Orphaned Wildlife (OWL).
• Discover the World of Beavers: Join a Metro Vancouver Regional Park Interpreter to learn how beavers shape and create wetlands, their critical role as keystone species, and ways you can help protect vital wetland habitats.
• Kids can enjoy a scavenger hunt, try gold panning, or unleash creativity at the colouring station.
• Learn about Indigenous Plants: Learn about Indigenous plants and traditional medicine with elder Hazel Gludo.
• Animal Tracks, Scats & Skulls: Join Kwantlen First Nation elder Karen Gabriel to explore how First Nations people used animals for clothing, tools, and more. See real animal scats, vinyl replicas, life-size paws and tracks, and learn how kids identified animal signs for hunting and gathering.
• Wildlife Photography: Discover the art of wildlife photography with Parks Canada interpreter and amateur photographer Ann Birnie.
The historic site is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and regular admission rates apply, but entry is free for those 17 and younger.
CHOO CHOO
Family Day Open House kicks off B.C. Heritage Week at the CNR Station on Monday, Feb. 17.
People can visit the historic venue Fort 91Ô´´ to discover the real-life stories of a once working railway station. Inside Fort 91Ô´´â€™s original Canadian Northern Railway station, there's exhibits in the waiting room, telegraph office, and freight room.
People can climb aboard a 1947 passenger car where children will enjoy the large wooden train table and book reading area along with the model HO railway operating in the adjoining 1920s CNR caboose.
During the open house there will be a new scavenger hunt and a craft for children to seal a letter from the train agent with a wax stamp.
