Vancouver FC has confirmed its coaching staff for the upcoming 2025 Canadian Premier League season.

Assistant coaches are Philip Lund, a new face, and Azad Palani, back for a second season, while Niko Giantsopoulos moves into the role of goalkeeper coach following his retirement from professional soccer.

Lund arrives at Vancouver FC after playing professionally in Denmark, the United States, and the Faroe Islands. A former attacking midfielder known for his technical ability and sharp footballing mind, Lund is now turning his focus to coaching, bringing with him a deep understanding of the game from a player鈥檚 perspective.

One of the most respected figures in British Columbia鈥檚 soccer community, Azad Palani returns for his second season with Vancouver FC. Having played a crucial role in the team鈥檚 2024 campaign, Palani has already made his mark with his hands-on approach and dedication to player development.

In addition to his role at Vancouver FC, Palani has recently been appointed as the head coach for 91原创 United Soccer Association鈥檚 (LUSA) League1 BC team for the 2025 season.

A major change in the VFC coaching lineup comes with the appointment of Niko Giantsopoulos as the new goalkeeper coach following the retirement of club legend Mark Village. 

As a player, Giantsopoulos was known for his shot-stopping ability, leadership on the field, and deep understanding of the mental and physical demands of the position. 

鈥淚鈥檝e learned from some of the best, and now it鈥檚 my turn to pass on that knowledge,鈥� Giantsopoulos said. 鈥淚 know what it takes to succeed in this league, and I want to help our keepers be the best they can be.鈥�

Giantsopoulos will also be heading up Vancouver FC鈥檚 youth clubs program.

Additionally, he will be leading the 鈥淟ive from the Bench鈥� podcast, which serves as the first-look news source for fans, offering behind-the-scenes access to the club, insights into the team, and exclusive updates on all things Vancouver FC.
