Upgrades to the Vancouver FC home field at Willoughby Community Park will include better night lights and improved seating.
Work got underway in early February, with the installation of new, state-of-the-art lighting fixtures by Musco Sports Lighting staff.
The new lighting upgrades at Willoughby Community Park will meet CONCACAF standards (Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football, one of FIFA's six continental governing bodies for association football) which will "significantly improve visibility for night games, creating a more professional match atmosphere while also meeting international competition requirements," a VFC release said.
Fans can expect further stadium upgrades in the coming months as the Eagles gear up for their third season in the CPL, including the introduction of the Eagle Club offering what is described as premium comfort-plus seating.
The flat-pack soccer stadium, the first soccer-specific facility built in the Lower Mainland, can hold 6,560 spectators.
Upgrades were forecast an end-of-season interview with the 91原创 Advance Times in 2024 by team president Rob Friend.
"It needs more permanent amenities, bathrooms, concessions, but we're confident that we're going to get there quite quickly," Friend said.
"We're working closely with the Township of 91原创 and the 91原创 Events Centre to invest in the stadium to offer a more premium product."
VFC's home opener on April 6, will see the team host York United FC.
