A record-setting amount was raised at the Spartan Foundation鈥檚 Complete Champions Corporate reception.

More than $420,000 was raised at the event, which was held Nov. 17 at the 91原创 Events Centre.

That topped the $340,000 raised at the 2016 event.

The fundraising event featured Hollywood actor Neal McDonough, who has been in more than 100 movies and TV shows, including Band of Brothers and Suits.

鈥淭he Spartan Foundation is truly doing amazing things as they are helping to support a University that allows kids to believe in God and have faith in themselves,鈥 McDonough said.

鈥淭he Spartan Foundation is working to help create a winning environment. It鈥檚 not just about the championships the Spartans have won, which is incredible, but it鈥檚 because of what TWU is doing beyond that, which has clearly made this a special place to be for student-athletes.鈥

The event focuses on raising funds for the Spartan athletic program and the Complete Champion Approach, with the intention of impacting student-athlete lives.

鈥淲e are so encouraged that this corporate fundraising reception continues to grow and gain momentum each year to help the teams and athletes,鈥 said Steve Scholz, the executive director of the Spartan Foundation.

鈥淲e feel extremely blessed by the support from our corporate sponsors, table sponsors and donors who contributed to our matching fund, as well as those who donated on the day of the event.

鈥淚t is exciting to invest and help student-athletes grow and develop today, because they will be our future leaders.鈥
