HST horror stories fade away

HST horror stories fade away

The B.C. government has released its audited public accounts for what Bill Vander Zalm enthusiasts strain to depict as Year One of the Harmonized Sales Tax Apocalypse.

Routley parents ignored by governments

Considering the current situation of the Routley school site in 91原创, I am left wondering whether we live in a democratic country?

Remember the NDP

The NDP turned B.C. into a have-not province. This was all because of the voting patterns of B.C. taxpayers.

Beware of raccoons

I was walking my German shepherd on a trail in Walnut Grove and three raccoons attacked us. My dog was fighting off one of them and I was fighting the other two with my umbrella from the ground, as I had fallen backwards.

EDITORIAL: Fighting crime

Abbotsford is in the public spotlight for the right reasons. After a decade that saw gang violence, frequent shootings, targeted killings and this city labelled with the dubious moniker 鈥渕urder capital of Canada鈥 in the national press, the city had a reputation in need of repair.

Be sure to fill in your HST ballot

My July 5 comments were intended to provide context to the HST debate 鈥 how it started, how it has developed and the positives and negatives of the HST that I see. Many of those comments are based on reports that we have run over the past two years on the HST. Greater 91原创 Chamber of Commerce, which is pro-HST, has held two forums on the HST. Bill Vander Zalm came here to speak against it. Colin Hansen defended it in this newspaper the week it was announced. And much else has been published.

Editorial 鈥 City slams door shut

No request was presented to 91原创 City council, asking that it agree to a study of reunification, but no matter. The issue was raised, so the City moved swiftly to slam the door shut. Council won鈥檛 even consider a study.

Study would answer nagging questions

How arrogant of 91原创 City council to take a position, before a formal request for a study is even presented. This council is disdainful of its citizens. Council stated that unless it sees a business case, it will not entertain the issue. It also suggested that a name change would make it go away.

HST letter applauded

Finally someone has been able to articulate the feelings of the average citizen of this province.

Lottery suggested

I believe that generating additional income for TransLink can be done with a lottery.
