HST results bad for Liberals

Support for the HST was weak, even among Liberals. This does not bode well for the party in the next provincial election, because the Liberals didn’t win the last election by a massive margin. Any siphoning of support to a resurgent BC Conservative Party, or a decision by former Liberal voters to stay home, will badly hurt the party.

HST is dead, now comes the blame game

The HST matter is not truly over, and perhaps never will be. Now comes the blame game.

Recycling receptacles go missing

Our new blue recycling box disappeared last Thursday, along with the blue and the yellow paper recycling envelopes. It’s a mystery.

No action for broadcasting early election results

While the Canada Elections Act does contain provisions concerning premature transmission of results, the courts will strictly construe the text of these provisions. The offence in this fact situation requires that it be done wilfully or intentionally. This was not the case for the CBC broadcast of results on election night. After careful consideration of the available information, the commissioner has concluded that there is not a reasonable basis for further steps at this time.
