Walnut Grove yahoos terrorize kids

Editor: I would like to say I’m sorry.

I’m sorry that the group of pack dog mentality yahoos that hang around the strip of Walnut Grove Drive between the park and the community centre seem to have nothing better to do on Friday and Saturday nights, other than terrorize the neighborhood kids.

This time their target was two boys, who had exited a bus and were walking home. Had some young men not driven by and chosen to turn around and help them out, I shudder to think what the outcome could have been.

The swarmers left. Perhaps they did not want any witnesses to their dirty work or maybe the uncertainty of just how many people were in the oncoming car made them think twice.

At any rate, the young men offered the kids a safe ride home, which they accepted.

But let’s get back to why I am sorry. I am sorry that the yahoos are uninspired to rent a movie, or catch a ride to Colossus, or go bowling or swimming or just hang out in a friend’s basement and watch some mindless TV or play Xbox or Wii on a Friday night.

But most of all, I am sorry to say that if anything had happened to the young men who stepped up to help out those kids, I would not be writing this letter. My husband would be holding me back at the door because I would want to clean your clocks myself, you pack dog yahoos.

Again I am sorry, because therein lies the rub.
