Nonsensical bylaws designed to control our lives

Editor: Holy police state Batman, is this really where we want to go — working our way towards municipal governments controlling every aspect of our lives?

Most of us have common sense and can live without these stupid, nonsensical bylaws. We are bringing these bylaws mostly upon ourselves by begging and lobbying municipalities to control us with these draconian laws.

We act like children, crying to council that our neighbour is doing something we don’t like. Really?

Remember, you cannot park your rec vehicle, horse trailer or whatever in your own yard, on property that you own and pay extremely high taxes for.

Not only that, do not drop your trailer of any kind on a street in 91Ô´´ so that you can run in and get an emergency repair on your vehicle. If you do so, you will get a ticket, courtesy of cash grab #4758, section 312 bylaw.

On the other hand, your neighbour can run a machine with a back-up beeper from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. with no problem.

Seriously, I could care less if my hard-working neighbours had a tank parked in their front yard. When you work hard all your life, you are entitled to have a small amount of pleasure — whether it be a rec vehicle, boat, horse trailer or snowmobile.

The very fact that we pay such outrageous taxes to achieve this smallest of freedoms, to park our stuff in our own yards means hands off. This is my home and my property. Leave me alone.
