Editor: In response to the article 鈥淟eave my kids out of this鈥 (The Times, Jan. 12).
How can you keep giving Mark Marohn the time of day, let alone put his story on the front page?
Not only have the court proceedings with the Marohns dragged on long enough, but now Mark is trying to find a new angle to get some sympathy by 鈥渦sing鈥 his girls. I have known the Marohn family for many years, and had been involved with the pony club that he seems to think ostracized his daughter.
Just imagine 鈥 you are a girl with a great passion for horses, belong to a pony club for the past eight years that has taught you not only how to ride but proper stable management, health and welfare of the horse, and then you have to witness your parents, who go against their oaths as veterinarians, put your horse in such peril? Who is messing with whose mind?
For Marohn to trash pony club now, when it was another pony club family that took in his daughter when the family was evicted from their last home, is ironic. His daughter lived with this other family for nine months.
As Regional Pony Club Chair at the time of this incident, I sent a letter to all branches of pony club, stating that it was not our concern and definitely was no one to give their opinion to anyone. It was the parents and not the daughter who were involved, and we all felt bad for what the daughter had to be going through.
Marohn portrays the same 鈥減oor me鈥 attitude as he has since the moment I met him 12 years ago. I have personally, along with many other pony club families, helped the Marohn family out during times of injuries, illnesses and eviction. I now would like to see a conviction for this horrific act.
There is not a cockamamie story that Marohn can come up with that will lead anyone, with a head on their shoulders, to believe that the horse and his car 鈥渏ust happened鈥 to be in the ditch at the same time. Shame on him, as a veterinarian, for even thinking of doing such a thing, let alone trying it follow through with it. Shame on him for doing that to his daughters.
You鈥檝e made your bed, lie in it. But 鈥渓eave your kids out of this鈥 鈥 you鈥檝e done enough to them.
