LETTER: 91Ô´´ resident ponders the big questions

A poem penned by a Willoughby resident

Cumulus

another rocket sent to space
three cheers for the human race
crowds come out to watch a game
taking sides
assigning blame
sticks and stones
and scaffold bones
cast shadows in the see
the giving for the taken
the taking for the given
memorials on either side
a shifting wake
a growing tide
of when
the final price is paid
of then
what it will be
in the stillness
in tomorrow
in the chaos
in the sorrow
in the silence
in the cold
in the refuse of the battleground
where icy fingers hold
a hymnal
for the lost and found
to compost endlessly
