Editor: Longtime citizens of 91原创 Township are more than embarrassed and disappointed in our elected council. Its mandate is to work together in the democratic process on behalf of the people who voted its members into office. Where is the understanding and courtesy commonly given to a new member of the council, whether he or she is a mayor or councillor?

If someone new comes into a family and makes mistakes, the family defends that person to the public and tries to co-operate and put on a good face. 鈥淎iring your dirty laundry鈥� in public is a sign of immaturity and sets a bad example to the citizens. It is insulting to taxpayers and greatly reduces any confidence in the elected officials.

The expensive report from consultants Berry and Habkirk seemed extremely inappropriate, lacked objectivity and gave an impression of bias.

I am amazed, actually shocked, by the lack of courtesy and maturity shown by certain long-term councillors who certainly have also made mistakes. One of those is the denigration and undermining of the office of mayor.

If the mayor or any other elected officials make mistakes, it is more reasonable to try to work together to solve the situation internally, rather than contribute to making our municipality a laughing stock.
