Multiple fire crews were dispatched to rural 91原创 on Saturday (Christmas Eve) morning for a barn fire.

Firefighters were deployed to a blaze reported in the 3000-block of 232nd Street just after 9 a.m.

According to Google Maps, there are multiple out buildings on the property. The one reportedly on fire was about half a kilometre back and could not been seen from the road.

The fire started in a small utility room or workshop in what was once a pig barn now being used primarily for storage, said 91原创 Township鈥檚 assistant fire chief Kevin Snowdon.

No one was injured, and Snowdon applauded the team鈥檚 effort.

鈥淭he fire this morning ended up being relatively minor, thanks to quick action from our crews in very challenging conditions,鈥� he said. Specifically, he was talking about weather conditions and the long driveway.

鈥淰ery slick roadways and long driveway to the barn at the back of the property,鈥� Snowdon elaborated, noting the fire appeared to be caused by an electrical problem.

鈥淚 don鈥檛 think there was actually much [being stored] in it at the time,鈥� he said.

Nevertheless, fire crews from throughout the Township were called in to use water tankers to supply water to fight the blaze.

In addition to this call, and being deployed to the fatal pedestrian accident, Snowdon said Township firefighters have been busy for several days straight, primarily related to weather calls.

鈥淭he crews were very busy last night with a lot of broken sprinkler pipes, as the temperatures warmed up. And, wires down with the ice on the trees.鈥�
