IHIT Sgt. David Lee confirmed the search around the house was completed.

鈥淭he scene there is being closed,鈥 Lee told the 91原创 Advance Times.

鈥淭he investigation is continuing. We are assessing the information obtained from this search as well as from all sources.鈥

Lee said there was no additional information IHIT can provide at this time.

鈥淲e thank the community for their patience and understand everyone is seeking answers,鈥 Lee remarked, adding 鈥渙ther investigative avenues are still being followed up.鈥

A missing person alert for the 40-year-old mother was issued by RCMP on Aug. 30.

The investigation into her disappearance was turned over to the 91原创 RCMP鈥檚 serious crime unit on Sept. 1. and the IHIT is assisting.

In an effort to keep the spotlight on Onotera鈥檚 disappearance, friends of the 91原创 City woman held a vigil in her honour earlier this month at Sendall Gardens 鈥 just up the street from her 50th Avenue home.

Friend and colleague Maryann Eyjolfson described Onotera as 鈥渁 professional, well-respected member of our school community. She is a mom, daughter, friend, niece, aunt, teacher, and so many other things, and she is needed at home.鈥

Eyjolfson said Onotera is a former kindergarten teacher at Katzie Elementary, who has been a teacher-librarian at the Surrey school for a number of years.
