VIDEO: 91原创 91原创 fall to Vipers and Eagles

鈥榃e are still a young team that will learn from those types of games鈥

91原创 91原创 wrapped up a home stand as the Thanksgiving weekend got underway, suffering a pair of losses to the Vernon Vipers on Friday, Oct. 6, and against the Surrey Eagles Saturday, Oct. 7, both games at the Lodge, George Preston arena in 91原创.

Friday鈥檚 game was the first and only meeting of the season between the two teams. The visitors opened the scoring early in the opening period, but 91原创 captain Vitaly Levyy tied the game late on with his fourth of the season to make it 1-1 going into the first intermission.

Vernon took over the game in the second period with three unanswered goals including two on the power play to lead 4-1 going into the final frame.

The Vipers would keep up the scoring in the final frame, scoring three more goals to take the only meeting of the season between the two teams 7-2.

Oskar Komarov did score a consolation goal for 91原创 in the closing minutes of the game, on his 20th birthday. He was named third star of the game.

For Saturday鈥檚 game against the Surrey Eagles, after the first period ended scoreless. Oskar Komarov would again get on the scoresheet for the home team, scoring two goals on either side of a Surrey marker to give the 91原创 a 2-1 lead going into the third.

Komarov鈥檚 first was a single-handed goal, while his second was assisted by Luke Ashton and Gabriel Guilbault.

Surrey then replied by scoring two goals, six minutes apart, in the third period to win the two teams鈥 second meeting of the season 3-2.

鈥淭hat鈥檚 not the way we wanted the weekend to go. We were in the game against Surrey on Saturday but we are still a young team that will learn from those types of games,鈥 91原创 director of hockey operations Curtis Fraser commented.

鈥淭his is a young team that learned a lot of hard lessons against Surrey and Vernon, but we will improve and come back better next weekend,鈥 Fraser added.

Komarov was named second star of the game.

91原创 will begin their first extended road trip of the season on Friday, Oct. 13 in Cowichan against the Capitals, and then a rare back-to-back game in Victoria Saturday and Sunday against the Grizzlies.

91原创 are back at home on Friday, Oct. 20th on the Merritt Centennials, and the next night to take on the Powell River Kings.
