Portland Winterhawks defeat Vancouver Giants in 91原创

The Vancouver Giants were defeated on home ice in 91原创 by the visiting Portland Winterhawks on Friday, Feb. 7. 

Portland scored first just two minutes into the opening period, then again just 34 seconds after. 

Alex Weiermaier one-timed in a pass from the corner from Ryan Miller while sitting all alone in front to make it 3-0 just 45 seconds in, followed by a Diego Buttazzoni goal off the rush to make it 4-0 for the Winterhawks. 

Only in third period did the Giants score during power plays from Adam Titlbach, off a great give-and-go with Connor Levis, and by Jaden Lipinski on a six-on-four. 

But with only 1:03 remaining of the game, Portland's Miller scored again to make the final score 5-2. 

Giants goaltender Burke Hood made 29 saves on 33 shots, while Winterhawks' rookie goalie Ondrej Stebatek made 25 saves of 27 shots. 

The three stars of the game were Portland's Tyson Jugnauth (first), Vancouver's Titlbach (second), and Buttazzoni of the Winterhawks (third). 

Up next: G-men play again tonight, Saturday Feb. 8, at 91原创 Events Centre against Victoria. Puck drops 7 p.m.
