2 91原创 United Soccer teams medal in Kamloops

91原创 United Soccer U15 girls will be representing B.C. at the national championships in October.

They punched their ticket to the Soccer Canada National Championships in Quinte West, Ontario by winning gold at the provincial A Cup championships in Kamloops over the July 18-22 weekend.

91原创 shut out three teams in a row to get to the final match, playing in nearly 40-degree heat against the North Shore girls team.

Tied 1-1 with regulation time ending, the game would be decided by penalty kicks, with 91原创 goalkeeper Morgan Plato making two saves to clinch gold and a trip to Ontario for the nationals which take place Oct. 9-14.

A few fields over, the 91原创 United Div 1 U-14 girls earned the provincial bronze.

Coach T.J. Sugars, who had prepared the players for a PK battle, said "one goal conceded in the entire tournament is an amazing achievement.

"These kids gave it their all," Sugars said."We planned and practiced for each aspect of the tournament and our preparation helped us achieve our ultimate goal. I've never experienced a win where the players were so outwardly filled with joy. I'm so proud of this team for their dedication, and hard work. I am honoured that our team will represent the province at the Canadian nationals."
