Leading up to the atmospheric river event that is drenching the Fraser Valley, the City of 91Ô´´ and staff were preparing to the heavy rainfall and possible flooding.
Staff were out clearing drainage systems, cleaning up leaves, and flushing catch basins in known problematic areas, said Jessica La-Banh, acting communications officer with the city.
"We encourage residents and property owners to contribute by clearing downspouts, trench drains, lawn basins, and catch basins of any leaves and debris," she said.
"This collaborative effort is essential for preventing drainage issues and safeguarding our waterways."
The City also has free sandbags available for residents at its Operations Centre to pick up over the weekend at 5713 198 St.
