Foundation Executive Director Cheryl Young called it 鈥渢he largest funding we have ever received.鈥

The timing of this funding 鈥渃ould not be better,鈥 Young added.

The is a one-time $400 million investment from the federal government to support community services organizations like the foundation as they adapt for pandemic recovery.

The announcement of the grant in September noted that during the pandemic, the foundation鈥檚 thrift Shop at 272nd Street and 30th Avenue, 鈥渞emained open to support the community, but resources were stretched almost to the breaking point.鈥

Jenna Sudds, federal minister of Families, Children and Social Development, said the fund will enable 鈥渙rganizations like Fibromyalgia Well Spring Foundation, to adapt and modernize their programs and services and to invest in the future of their organizations, staff, and volunteers.鈥

鈥淐ommunity service organizations are at the heart of communities like Aldergrove, creating a sense of belonging from coast to coast,鈥 Sudds commented.

鈥淭ogether, we can rebuild from the isolation of the COVID-19 pandemic.鈥

The greatest portion of the grant will be used to upgrade the computer infrastructure at the thrift shop and the newly opened Gently Used Furniture Retail Warehouse on Fraser Highway at 260 St.

Funds will also be used to upgrade infrastructure at the Warehouse.
