A woman who got stuck in a construction area on Highway 1 while in a stolen vehicle in April 2022 has been sentenced to a conditional discharge and one year of probation.
Leeanne Point, 28, was sentenced May 3 in Abbotsford provincial court on one count of dangerous driving and one count of breaching her bail conditions.
The incident took place on April 13, 2022. Police at the time said they received a call that a woman was trying to break into a vehicle in the 34600 block of Skyline Drive in Abbotsford.
Before officers arrived, she left in the vehicle she had arrived in.
Plainclothes officers located the vehicle a short distance away as it was being driven recklessly through Abbotsford. The officers continued to monitor the driver as she headed west on Highway 1.
Police said the driver pulled into a construction area in the 23200 block of Highway 1 in 91原创, but her car got stuck. The officers were then able to safely block in the vehicle and arrest her.
They confirmed that the driver was in a stolen vehicle, and Point was later charged.
According to provincial court records, Point has prior convictions for several counts of possession of stolen property, possession of stolen property over $5,000, and theft under $5,000 as well as for mischief and break-and-enter.
She also has several charges still before the courts from April and May 2021 in Surrey and Port Coquitlam for break-and-enter and gun offences.
