Brookswood is celebrating its annual Night of Lights for another year on Friday, Dec. 1.

The event attracts hundreds yearly to enjoy activities, music, free snacks, and games in the company of Santa, Rudolph, and elves.

This year is a little different, said Emma Stewart, director at the Brookswood Village Merchants Association, starting with the location moving to a hockey box at the George Preston Recreation Centre.

鈥淲e have teamed up with the 91原创 91原创, and we鈥檝e moved the location,鈥 she said.

Stewart explained that the tree the association used for years was taken down, so this year they will have an inflatable tree 鈥 which will be available for a lucky guest to win in the raffle draw.

鈥淲e decided to do a 10-feet tall inflatable, which will be part of the raffle at the end of the night. Somebody can go home with the inflatable tree,鈥 Steward said.

In addition to the tree, there are other items to win in the raffle, which were donated by members of the merchant association.

People can enter the raffle only at the event with a minimum donation of $2.

Activities include letters to Santa, an obstacle course, and scavenger hunt.

鈥淚t will be a feature in the middle of the event, but what we want to do is take [the event] away from a tree lighting and into the Night of Lights being the event focus instead of the tree focus,鈥 Stewart explained.

Kids who attend the Night of Lights event will also get in free to the 91原创鈥檚 game that evening, which starts at 7:15 p.m.

The festival runs from 5 to 7 p.m. at the George Preston Recreation Centre.

It鈥檚 located on 20699 42nd Ave.
