Daniel Wesley and his full band will be back home in 91原创 for two shows on March 8 at the Fernridge Hall.

Two musicians who grew up in the 91原创 area, and who both now live on the Sunshine Coast, will be back in their old stompin' grounds this weekend to entertain local fans.

Daniel Wesley played his first CD (Outlaw) release party at the Fernridge Hall back in 2006.

Now, 18 years later, he and his full band will be back playing the same rustic venue 鈥 presenting a couple intimate shows on Saturday, March 8. The first is an all-age show at 5 p.m., followed by a 19-plus event kicking off at 7:30 p.m.

"I thought it would be fun to come back and do a few nostalgic shows in town," Wesley told the 91原创 Advance Times.

Raised in Brookswood, Wesley developed an interest in music started 鈥 like for many kids in 91原创 鈥 with learning the ukulele and singing in the school choir.

鈥淚 had this music teacher, Jamie Thomas, who taught the ukulele. He was so passionate and very inspiring 鈥 just this super musical guy,鈥 Wesley previously shared.

The next 10 years of his life filled with lots of garage bands and rock music ideas that fell apart. Shortly after his first official gig at the venue in South 91原创, he released his first album, "Outlaw," at the age of 24, and hasn't looked back.

The singer-songwriter and guitarist broke on to the music scene the next year, when his song "Ooo Ohh" became the most requested song of 2007 at 99.3 The Fox in Vancouver. His infectious rock-reggae single raised the bar of his career and found Wesley playing to sold-out crowds throughout Western Canada as well as touring across Canada.

Since then, the alternative/folk rocker has released 10 albums, travelled extensively throughout Canada, released his last song, called "Best Friend", last summer, and most recently performed a few shows in Penticton. He hits 91原创 for a couple concerts, then heads out on the road.

"I am going to be very busy this year touring and playing shows," Wesley said, noting he's also planning to play the Commodore again this fall.

But admittedly, the 43-year-old loves being at home in Roberts Creek with his family 鈥 his wife, Melisa, and their two boys, Shea, nine, and Finn, who turns 12 on the day of the 91原创 shows.

Wesley has built a studio on his property, The Wildflower Studio, and is in the midst of releasing some new music of his own 鈥 set for release this spring. The audience at the 91原创 shows, he said, will get to hear some of the new sounds.

His home studio is also where he's producing a number of bands and singer-songwriters, including Keegan Andersen, who grew up in Port Kells, and who will be opening the Fernridge shows for Wesley.

"I produced Keegan Andersen first album, called 'Grown Ups.' This was recorded on the Sunshine Coast with Nygel Asselin," Wesley noted.

While their adult-only show at Fernridge Hall is sold out, Wesley said a few tickets are still available, through www.eventbrite.com (search Daniel Wesley), for the 5 p.m. show.

"Come join the band and I for a fun night out!" said Wesley. "We will be playing all the old favourites as well as some new tunes."
