Being raised in Brookswood may sound like a landlocked obstacle when it comes to being a 鈥渂each rocker,鈥 but that geographical snag didn鈥檛 seem to slow musician Daniel Wesley鈥檚 career one bit.
The 91原创-raised musician is releasing his ninth album, Beach Music, on Sept. 23, while embarking on a cross-country tour 鈥 which includes a stop in his hometown.
鈥淚鈥檓 comfortable when I鈥檓 closest to the ocean. We鈥檇 always go to the beach in White Rock,鈥 Wesley said. 鈥淚 just grew up hanging out on the beach. It鈥檚 a natural feeling and I鈥檓 lucky I get to live it. Life is always good when your looking at the ocean.鈥

Wesley said his music has evolved overtime to what it is today 鈥 fittingly beginning with the tropical sounds of a ukulele when he was a child.
鈥淚 had this music teacher, Jamie Thomas, who taught the ukulele. He was so passionate and very inspiring 鈥 just this super musical guy,鈥 Wesley remembered.
He described the next ten years of his life filled with lots of garage bands and rock music ideas that fell apart. Shortly after his first official gig at a venue in South 91原创, he released his first album, Outlaw, at the age of 24.
Eight more albums have since followed, including the hit single 鈥淥oo Ohh鈥 from the record Sing and Dance.
At age 37, Wesley said his career is going strong and that his sound is constantly evolving.
鈥淚 just spent time in the Sunshine Coast and did some travelling to Maui. This is first album with no electric guitars 鈥 it just happened 鈥 that wasn鈥檛 planned and we liked it,鈥 Wesley said about Beach Music鈥檚 recording process, stating that a softer sound might be something that carries into future albums.
Currently playing venues all over Canada in the next month with his four-piece band, Wesley will stop at the Chief Sepass Theatre in Fort 91原创, Friday, Sept. 27.
鈥淚鈥檝e only played once before in Fort 91原创 during my whole career, and it wasn鈥檛 at the Chief Sepass,鈥漌esley explained, 鈥渟o this is exciting. It鈥檚 going to be a vibe and chill kind of night, but I hope to get people moving.鈥
Next up for Wesley is鈥hat else? The beach! This time he鈥檒l be heading off to Mexico in the winter with his family.
Wesley said more tour dates in the spring are likely to come before going back into the studio for new sessions.
鈥淚鈥檓 feeling it! I鈥檓 feeling the Juju of songwriting,鈥 he said, eager to get a jump on new works and take in some more creative beachfront inspiration.
