Mr. Chambers [letter to the editor writer] is a resident of the Brookswood Fernridge community and under the terms of our democratic society has a perfect right to express his individual opinion. Assuming Mr. Chamber鈥檚 opinion is however, the 鈥渙fficial鈥� position of the Brookswood-Fernridge Community Association is simply wrong.

The Brookswood-Fernridge Community Association is not some radical 鈥渁ctivist group鈥� with the sole purpose of saving trees.

If Mr. Seguin had taken the time to read the mission of our registered society (BrookswoodFernridge.org) he would probably know that our mission is 鈥渢o work alongside residents and the Township to preserve the special character and quality of life in our community.鈥�

One of the core values of the BFCA is to promote respectful constructive discussion about municipal affairs.

Readers should remember that Mr. Seguin is one of those individuals selected by the TOL, not by the community, to sit on the 鈥渟pecial鈥�, planning committee for the development of the 鈥渕inor revisions鈥� to the Brookswood Fernridge Community Plan.

Mr. Seguin also is a landholder who, unlike many of us, stands to benefit financially from densification of the community.

While I am certain that many current residents of the area would like to keep much of Brookswood Fernridge鈥檚 greenery, the BFCA is focused on building a well planned, livable, sustainable community for current and future residents.

Frankly, Mr. Seguin鈥檚 comments concerning the BFCA are both inaccurate and disrespectful.
