There's hot, there's scalding, there's lava, there's pizza pop straight out of the microwave, there's the sun and then there is the Abbotsford Canucks.
The next galaxy-level scorching hot club tied a franchise record with nine wins in a row after another dominant 5-1 win victory over the San Jose Barracuda on Saturday (March 29).
Similar to Friday's game, the Canucks exploded offensively early as Sammy Blais lit the lamp just 31 seconds in. Captain Chase Wouters added a shorthanded breakaway goal about five minutes later and then five minutes after that Nate Smith made it 3-0. Jujhar Khaira added another goal at 13:18 of the first and Abbotsford harpooned the Barracuda 4-0 after one.

San Jose broke the shutout bid of Ty Young at 1:26 of the second, but Smith added a power play at 7:02 of the the third to reach the 5-1 final.
Smith recorded two goals and two assists, Blais added three points and Khaira had a two point night. All three players finished at a +3. Abbotsford out shot San Jose 29-19 and Young made 18 saves for his eighth AHL win on the season. He's won his last five starts and six of his last seven.

Saturday's triumph marked the ninth consecutive win for the Canucks and they have now tied a franchise record set in 2021-22. Abbotsford last lost a game on March 7 and have gone a sizzling 10-1 in the month of March.
The team has also momentarily vaulted into second place in the Pacific Division after Saturday's win. Abbotsford's record now sits at 37-23-2-1. With nine games remaining, this year's team is also challenging the franchise record for most wins in one season which is 40 (set in 2022-23 and 2023-24).

Saturday's win comes after an identical 5-1 win over the Barracuda on Friday (March 28). The Canucks got two goals from Phil Di Giuseppe, singles from Khaira, Wouters and Cooper Walker and 38 saves from goalie Nikita Tolopilo.
The Canucks return home for games against the Laval Rocket on Friday (April 5) and Saturday (April 6).
