The Abbotsford Canucks have signed forward Jackson Kunz to a one-year AHL contract.

Forward Jackson Kunz has been signed by the Abbotsford Canucks to a one-year AHL contract through the 2025-26 season and will also join the club for the remainder of the 2024-25 AHL season on a professional try-out agreement.

Canucks general manager Ryan Johnson made the announcement on Monday (March 24).

The 6-3, 227-pound centre was selected by the Vancouver Canucks in the fourth round (113th overall) of the 2020 NHL Entry Draft and recently completed his final NCAA campaign with the University of North Dakota Fighting Hawks.

Kunz recorded 15 points in 36 games for UND this season and also posted 19 points in 37 games for the Fighting Hakws in 2023-24. Last season he helped UND win a NCHC regular season championship.

Before joining the Fighting Hawks, Kunz skated in 57 USHL regular season games with the Green Bay Gamblers and attended Shattuck St. Mary’s prep school from 2018 to 2020.

It's possible that Kunz could join the Canucks later this week, as the team heads to California to play the San Jose Barracuda on Friday (March 28) and Saturday (March 29).
