UPDATED: 91原创鈥檚 Team Tardi heads to championship round at U-18s in Moncton

They won their first six games, lost the seventh to North Ontario, and won the eighth tonight against Saskatchewan 鈥 securing a position in the semifinals Saturday in the inaugural Canadian U-18 championships being staged in Moncton, N.B. this week.

They are Team Tardi, consisting of two young men who call the 91原创 Curling Centre home ice. That鈥檚 team skip Tyler Tardi, and Burnaby vice-skip Sterling Middleton. The local boys are accompanied on the ice by Victoria鈥檚 Derek Chandler and Scott Gray. Their normal teammates, Nick Meister of 91原创 and Jordan Tardi of Cloverdale were too old to compete in the U-18 event.

鈥漌e won our game this evening,鈥 Tyler said, noting they鈥檙e playing Northern Ontario at 1 p.m. Saturday.

The winner of that game goes on to the gold medal game at 5 p.m.

鈥淭hank you to everyone for your support. Much appreciated,鈥 he said.

In their games against Ontario and Alberta earlier this week, the boys said, 鈥淏oth games went to extra ends, and we managed to pull out the W in both games.鈥

Advancing to the championship pool, their were one of six teams.

鈥淓very game matters,鈥 Tyler said before their game this morning against Northern Ontario.
