Delta Police traffic analysts are investigating after an early-morning rollover crash.
Around 4 a.m. Sunday (Sept. 8), Delta Police received a 911 call in relation to a single-car crash westbound Highway 17 at the Highway 91 Connector (exit 23B), where the vehicle flipped onto its roof, landing just off the road in the grassy shoulder.
Once on scene, police determined there was a single vehicle and occupant. Delta Fire Department extricated the driver and BC Emergency Health Services transported the driver to a local hospital with serious undetermined injuries, Delta Police Acting Inspector James Sandberg said.
Westbound Highway 17 traffic will continue to be affected as officers work to reconstruct the collision in an effort to determine what happened and why it occurred, he said.
"Currently, the slow lane is closed for the investigation. It is still too early in the investigation to determine cause/contributing factors for this collision," he said Sunday morning.
Sandberg urged highway motorists to pay attention and slow down.
"As the road does have some curves near the collision investigation, we ask that the public slow through the area for the safety of crews on the road as well as the safety of the travelling public."
