Alcohol may have been a factor in a two-vehicle crash north of Enderby Thursday morning involving a man from Aldergrove who was under a driving prohibition.
The accident occurred north of the city on Highway 97A near North Enderby Timber shortly before 8:30 a.m.
RCMP investigators determined that a northbound green 1996 Ford Explorer, driven by a 39-year-old man from Aldergrove, crossed the centre line and struck a southbound red 2016 Ford F150 truck, driven by a 58-year-old Salmon Arm woman.
Both drivers suffered serious injuries in the collision. The woman was airlifted to hospital for proper assessment and any required medical treatment, while the man was taken to Vernon Jubilee Hospital with injuries.
Police confirm he is being investigated for impaired driving and was not supposed to be behind the wheel of a vehicle.
鈥淭he man is subject of a current driving prohibition with warrants outstanding for his arrest,鈥 said RCMP Cpl. Dan Moskaluk.
Police are seeking to hold the male in custody following his medical treatment.
The Explorer, said Moskaluk, had been stolen from Merritt.
The RCMP North Okanagan Traffic Services are continuing their investigation into the crash.
Investigators have spoken to witnesses who reported that the suspect vehicle was being driven erratically prior to the crash. Anyone with information, or having witnessed the crash who has not spoken to police, is asked to contact the RCMP North Okanagan Traffic Services at 250-838-6818, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
