At a formal dinner party in New York to honour a prominent politician, everything that can go wrong does go wrong.

Between the kitchen staff going missing, a car accident, and someone being shot in the head, explanations only make each situation worse.

For the audience, this promises to be an evening of riotous fun; for the characters, a disaster.

Rumors, Neil Simon鈥檚 only farce, comes to life at Theatre in the Country in 91原创 Sept. 6 to 22.

Featured are 91原创 actors Rosie Grypma as Chris Gorman, and Thomas Smith as Glenn Cooper. 鈥淲e are excited about the opening of our latest show here at Theatre in the Country: Rumors by Neil Simon. It is especially poignant to be mounting this piece in light of Simon鈥檚 passing this past weekend (Aug. 26),鈥� Reg Parks said in an email to the Times.

鈥�Rumors is the only true farce that Neil Simon ever produced. By his own admission he wrote it when he was at a low point in his life in the late p鈥�80s and wanted to cheer himself up. It has been described as 鈥榩ure entertainment,鈥� and as leaving the audience in a constant state of laughter. It rolls from one hilarious moment to the next, and doesn鈥檛 let up until the final line of the show.鈥�

This is Theatre in the Country鈥檚 third production since it moved to downtown 91原创 from its former homes in Maple Ridge and Walnut Grove. The move allows the theatre company to accommodate twice the audience size as before.
