91Ô­´´ 91Ô­´´'s newest signing, 2005-born Latvian forward Davids Livsics, made his debut on Jan. 12 against Coquitlam.

91Ô­´´ 91Ô­´´'s newest player made his debut Sunday, Jan. 12 against Coquitlam Express, for what turned out to be the team's fourth loss in a row.

Latvian forward Davids Livsics, 19, was signed the week before. He started the season with RoKi U20 in Finland’s top junior league, scoring four goals and collecting 11 assists in 21 games played.

Livsics has represented his country internationally in two World U18 tournaments, collecting two goals and an assists in 9 games spread over two tournaments.

Recently, he was a part of Latvia’s squad at the 2025 World Junior Championship in Ottawa, scoring against the United States and assisting the late tying goal in his countries 3-2 shootout upset win over Canada.

Sunday's game with Livsics in the line-up saw the Riv visit the Poirier Sports and Leisure Complex.

Express scored two goals in the first six minutes to lead 2-0, then scored 13 minutes into the second period to make it 3-0 Express.

91Ô­´´ would cut the lead to two 48 seconds later thanks to Ilya Rogovsky, who outraced a Coquitlam defenceman, and made a beautiful move in tight making it 3-1 Coquitlam with 6:10 to go in the second period. 

Express would score a fourth goal late in the second period, leading 4-1 going into the third, then got two more in the third to take their second meeting of the weekend 6-1.

It followed a 5-4 overtime loss to Coquitlam on Friday, Jan. 10 on home ice at George Preston arena.

In the Friday game, Ryan Schelling tipped home a Sid McNeill point shot with 4:19 remaining in the first period to make it 1-0 91Ô­´´ after 20 minutes of play.

Tyler Chan scored 2:27 into the middle frame, but 23 seconds later former 91Ô­´´ Andrej Kovacevic cut the 91Ô­´´ lead to one.

Coquitlam scored two goals in 1:06 to lead 3-2 early in the second, but Greye Rampton would score his second goal of the season in just his fourth game to tie it 3-3, and that’s where it would stand going into the third period.

The visitors retook the lead with just about seven minutes gone in the third on a quick breakout from their own zone.

Ryan Schelling would tie the game 4-4 with his second of the game, with 8 and a half minutes to play, and despite multiple 91Ô­´´ chances it would go to overtime.

At 4:35 of overtime, Sam Frandina would score his second of the game to make it 5-4.

BCHL's all-star weekend is next Friday and Saturday in Salmon Arm, and will see 91Ô­´´ 91Ô­´´ top goal scorer Ryan Schelling participate in the three-on-three tournament on Saturday.

The 91Ô­´´ do not play again until Friday, Jan. 24 and Saturday, Jan. 25 when they make a trip to the Cowichan Community Centre to take on the Capitals, followed by a visit to the Q Centre and the Victoria Grizzlies.

91Ô­´´'s last win was recorded Dec. 29 on the road against Chilliwack, a 4-3 victory.

With 14 wins in 35 games, the Riv are currently ranked seventh in the 10-team BCHL Coastal Conference.
