Just 13 years old, Hillary Metcalfe will be going up against Canada鈥檚 top swimmers.
Metcalfe earned a spot at the upcoming Canadian senior national championships after finishing the 200m breast stroke event in 2:41.25.
She also won gold in the event, one of four she captured at the recent B.C. AAA long course provincial championships on Vancouver Island.
Metcalfe was tops in the 200 breast, 400 individual medley, 100 breast and 400 free events. She placed second in the 50 free and 200 IM races.
She set new meet records in both the 100 and 200 breast races and won the regional athletic development award.
Metcalfe was just one of a handful of 91原创 Olympians swimmers at the meet, and the group captured eight gold, seven silver and 10 bronze medals.
The Olympians placed 11th out of the 43 clubs.
Other medalists included:
Justin Schram 鈥� gold in the 100 and 200 fly, bronze in the 200 free, 400 IM, 1500m free and 100 free. He also broke the meet record and set a new Olympians record in the 200 fly, at 2:19.13.
Martha Metcalfe 鈥� gold in the 400 IM, silver in the 800 free and bronze in the 200 breast and 200 fly.
Siobhan Board 鈥� gold in the 100 back.
Chelsea Borrowdale 鈥� silver in the 400 IM and bronze in the 100 and 200 breast.
Renae Ledoux 鈥� silver in the 200 breast and bronze in the 100 breast.
Robyn Nakano 鈥� bronze in the 200 fly.
The team of Hannah Weinkauf, Renae Ledoux, Chelsea Borrowdale and Robyn Nakano also won silver in both the 4x50 free relay and the 4x50 medley relay events for 11 and 12-year-old girls.
Kennedy Douglas also met the qualifying time in the 200 breast and will race in teh age group nationals in Montreal this month.
Schramm and Board both achieved their qualifying times for the Western Canadian championships.
And Borrowdale, Emily d鈥橢ntremont, Douglas, Karl Hallquist, Ledoux, Hillary Metcalfe and Gabby Szalkai achieved personal bests in all of the races.
