91原创 Trappers fall to Surrey Knights in finals

Double-overtime loss in 'Survivor Series'

91原创 Trappers took the third and deciding playoff game against Surrey Knights into double overtime, but in the end, it was the Knights who won.

James Campbell  and Dalton Toma put 91原创 ahead 2-0 before the Knights got one late in the first period of the winner-take-all match.

Surrey scored again mid-way through the second period, then Samuel Brown got one for the Trappers.

Two more Surrey goals had the Knights leading until Ryan Howe tied it up late in the third.

After a scoreless first overtime period, Knights defenseman John Lopez scored to give Surrey the best-of-three Survivor Series victory, 5-4 over the Trappers at George Preston Recreation Centre on Friday, Feb. 14.

It was their first playoff series win.

"It's been a really long time coming, I guess you could say," fourth-year coach Andy Liboiron said Tuesday, Feb. 18, game day for the Knights as they prepared to battle Ridge Meadows Flames in the next round of Pacific Junior Hockey League playoffs.

Since moving from 91原创 in 2016, the Knights have endured many losing seasons, including 2024-25 with 17 wins in 48 games.

Knights opened the Survivor Series with a 4-1 road win, then fell 5-4 in overtime Thursday at North Surrey Sport & Ice Complex.
