A pair of athletes who train out of 91原创 are now number two and three in the world in their sport following the World Trampoline Championships in England.

Sienna Kuznak, 16, and Jordyn Schmidt, 15, brought home a medal each 鈥� with Kuznak bringing home a silver in the World Junior Double Mini event, and Schmidt a bronze in the double minitramp in the 15/16 age group.

Both girls, who train out of Flip City in 91原创, competed in the double mini, individual and synchronised at the event held in Birmingham this year from Nov. 9-19. The double mini they are ranked number one and two in Canada, in synchronized they are ranked first, and in individual they are ranked second and third in the country.

鈥淔lip City was the only club in Canada to win more than one (medal),鈥� said coach Rusty Pierce.

鈥淭he top 8 from the 15/16, and the 13/14 age group were qualified to compete in this competition,鈥� added Pierce.

A fundraiser was started to raise money for the Flip city girls鈥� trip to England for the competition which raised $3,050 of a $5,000 goal.

In it Pierce explained this is the second time that Kuznak and Schmidt, who reside in Maple Ridge, have been named to Team Canada for this competition. Last year, he noted, it was held in Sofia, Bulgaria, and both girls finished in the middle of the pack.

This year, Pierce told Black Press, was a huge improvement for both girls.

鈥淟ast year, in Bulgaria, they finished well back, around 20th place,鈥� said Pierce.

This time around, Canada won a total of four medals in Birmingham, said Pierce, including the brass brought in by Kuznak and Schmidt.

鈥淭he competition was slick! Big time show business, with light shows, loud music, in a beautiful arena,鈥� he added.

More than 1,000 gymnasts from more than 40 countries competed at the 37th annual FIG Trampoline Gymnastics World Championships.

Athletes competed in a variety of events including: individual and synchronised trampoline, double mini trampoline, and tumbling.
