A South Surrey registered massage therapist can only treat female patients who are fully clothed below the waist, after a female patient lodged a complaint.
This comes after an inquiry committee from the College of Complementary Health Professionals of B.C. made an interim order that imposed limits and conditions on Arthur DeLuis’ registration with the college, pending an investigation into the complaint.
The committee found some factors "that render the alleged conduct likely to recur."
"Therefore, the panel determined that the public must be protected by an interim order during the investigation, pending any disciplinary hearing," reads the notice.
Details of the complaint were not published, and the allegations have not been proven.
"In relation to this complaint, the Inquiry Committee panel found that there was a prima facie case of the allegations that, during the provision of treatment to the patient, the Registrant engaged in sexual misconduct," reads a .
DeLuis must post a notice on his online booking pages, waiting rooms or clinics where he provides massage therapy treatment and his treatment rooms that reads: "When treating female patients, Arthur DeLuis, RMT, must ensure the patient remains fully clothed from the iliac crest to the ankles during treatment, by order of the Inquiry Committee of the College of Complementary Health Professionals of BC, dated December 30, 2024."
He is also subject to random on-site audits of his practice by a College-appointed inspector. He must also provide the College with access to his booking calendar weekly that includes the name and contact information of his patients.
