Jennifer Coimbra, general manager of the 91原创 Gymnastics Foundation (LGF), called the Xcel and Compulsory GymBC championships the "biggest event of the year" for the athletes.
More than 1,500 athletes, coaches, and judges from across the province are taking part in the four-day Gymnastics BC event hosted by LGF at the 91原创 Events Centre which started Thursday, April 17.
Coimbra said LGF is sending 120 competitors to the championships.
"Every year a host club is chosen to co-host with Gymnastics BC, so we were chosen this year to be able to do that" Coimbra told the 91原创 Advance Times.
"It's probably one of the biggest events yet."
Competitors are all girls, ranging in age from five to 18, competing in floor, balance beam, uneven bars, and vault events.
"It's a fun, it's a great event," Coimbra enthused.
"Anybody is welcome to come and watch, and it's going to be held in the main arena, which is always exciting for the athletes to be in such a big venue."
Admission tickets can be purchased at the door.

LGF is a non-profit organization that has been serving 91原创 and surrounding communities with gymnastics programs focused on physical fitness and fundamentals since 1991.
Established in 1969, Gymnastics BC (GymBC) is a non-profit organization responsible for the governance, promotion, and development of gymnastics in the province.
