The Calgary Wranglers are far removed from the days of Dustin Wolf giving the Abbotsford Canucks nightmares and Saturday (March 1) in Calgary hammered that point home.
The Canucks scored a franchise-record eight goals on the road to take down the Wranglers 8-4 and snap a four-game losing streak.
The franchise has scored seven goals on the road a few times and managed eight goals against the Henderson Silver Knights inside the Abbotsford Centre on March 17, 2024 鈥 but had never tallied eight away from home before Saturday.
Cole McWard opened the scoring at 6:27 of the first, with Calgary's Parker Bell tying the game up a few minutes later. Abbotsford added goals from Akito Hirose (10:20) and Aatu R盲ty (13:56) to lead 3-1 after one.
The goals continued in the middle frame, as Wranglers forward Rory Kerins made it a one goal game just 1:29 in. It was all Abbotsford from there, with Chase Wouters socring twice and Sammy Blais adding another.

Calgary cut the lead to one with goals from Kerins and Dryden Hunt early, but the Canucks responded with Danila Klimovich adding two more to close out the game. The 2021 second round draft pick established a new career record for goals in an AHL season with his 18th.
The power play was red hot for Abbotsford, with the club finishing 3/4 on Saturday. Blais recorded a game-high three points, while Klimovich, Wouters, McWard and R盲ty all had two point nights. R盲ty now leads the team with 33 points this season. Goalie Ty Young made 25 saves to record his fourth career AHL win.
The club's record now stands at 28-22-2-1 and they occupy sixth place in the Pacific Division.
The Canucks head home now for games against the San Jose Barracuda on Friday (March 7) and Saturday (March 8). The pair of games are important for the standings, as the Barracuda rank fifth and are just two points up on Abbotsford. Saturday's game is being promoted as Top Dogs Night where dogs from across the Fraser Valley come together to compete for the title of Abbotsford鈥檚 top dog. Pups will also be available for adoption throughout the game.
