The Kalamazoo Wings and the Canucks organization will remain partners until at least the 2025-26 season.

The Canucks organization has renewed its affiliation with the ECHL's Kalamazoo Wings.

The Wings made the announcement in a press release on Tuesday (July 30).

The new deal extends the partnership through the 2025-26 season. This agreement continues the initial agreement that began with the 2023-24 season.

鈥淲e are thrilled to extend our affiliation with Kalamazoo,鈥 stated Ryan Johnson, Abbotsford Canucks general manager and Vancouver Canucks assistant general manager. 鈥淭he working relationship we have established has given our organization depth and stability, while providing our prospects with great opportunities to develop. We look forward to continuing that relationship for the next two seasons.鈥

The Wings finished the 2023-24 season as the sixth seed in the ECHL鈥檚 Western Conference and compiled a record of 38-30-4. They were then eliminated in the divisional semifinal round by the Toledo Walleye.

Some of the Abbotsford Canucks talent that played in Kalamazoo last season included: forwards Ty Glover and Cooper Walker, defenceman Chad Nychuk and goalie Jonathan Lemieux.

鈥淲e are excited to extend our relationship with the Vancouver Canucks and Abbotsford Canucks for the next two seasons,鈥 stated Joel Martin, Kalamazoo Wings director of hockey operations and head coach. 鈥淥ur values and commitment to develop players in a winning environment are aligned.鈥

and he shared that the partnership had gone well and he expected talks of an extension to happen soon.

鈥淚'm very pleased to see our relationship with Vancouver continue, strengthen, and be mutually beneficial,鈥 added Toni Will, Kalamazoo Wings general manager and governor. 鈥淥ur franchises share many of the same goals and passion in professional hockey and positively impacting our communities.鈥

This season marks the 50th for the Wings, with a number of special activities planned. The team's home opener on Oct. 19 features an attempt to once again enter the Guinness World Record books for the most waving foam fingers simultaneously.

Kalamazoo will also be hosting the 2025 Warrior/ECHL Hockey Heritage Weekend in January. The Stanley Cup will be in the Wings home arena for that weekend, as well as the full lineup of NHL player awards. The Wings will wear specialty jerseys related to the weekend.
