Editor: I read this lettere by Elizabeth Woznica (The Times, Feb. 14), and I say, get your facts straight. Then you can mess them up all you like.

Teachers do get paid for their time off. They can choose one of two options that I know of.

One: Choose to take the advance pay, meaning before all holidays, summer, Christmas and the like.

This means they don’t get a cheque during these times because they have been advanced the money in lieu of getting paid during these breaks.

Two: Teachers can choose not to take the  advance pay and get paid regularly — on their holidays, summer, Christmas and the like.

So before the writer starts talking about how hard done by teachers are, she needs to get her facts straight.

On a side note, let’s talk about the on-call retired teachers who make up to $600 a day when called in. That is a crock, when many recent graduates are looking for work as teachers. You will get no sympathy from me.

We are all struggling. Get with the times.

Finally, if you don’t want to put in the hours, then don’t be a teacher. It’s that simple
