Editor: My name is Anna Demian and I am a student at WGSS. I am 15 years old and I am concerned about the 27 million people worldwide who are trapped in modern day slavery. 

The newly-crowned Miss Canada 2011, Tara Teng, a 91原创 resident, shares my concern. 

I invited her to speak at my school to share with my fellow students information about modern day slavery in Canada and worldwide. She did so on Monday and Tuesday.

We need to find out about human trafficking and modern-day slavery in our own backyard and what we can do to stop it. 

I believe that all people were created to be free and that it is a crime to enslave one another. 

I also believe that if we all stand together for justice, we can end modern-day slavery in my lifetime. But we need everyone to know about it and how they can help. Please help us spread the word.
