Dear Editor,

I served 34 years in the Canadian Forces, so believe me, I and all other military members know that there was always a group we deemed 鈥渢he sick, the lame, and the lazy.鈥� They were the members that were always looking for the easy way out: feigning sicknesses, avoiding duties an deployments, and constantly complaining about anything and everything.

They were, thankfully, a small minority 鈥� but they were there.

I have never heard an honourable service member say, 鈥淚 was willing to die for my country.鈥� That is self-aggrandizement and serves only to play on the emotions of gullible people.

A serviceman is always willing to kill for his country, but while there is always an assumed risk of injury or death, no one is 鈥渨illing鈥� to die. That is crap!

Today there are some who are attempting to receive allowances and pensions to which they are not entitled.

The Liberal party has fixed the broken Conservative system, but there are some still trying to get more by claiming PTSD,

Every Wounded Warrior undergoes thorough physical and mental examinations, and if you question those who truly deserve full benefits, you will find that they are treated fairly and well.

When our prime ministers sates, 鈥淪ome are asking for more than we can give,鈥� it is a politically correct statement to someone demanding more than that to which he is entitled.

Perhaps the PM should have said, 鈥淵our medical records do not reflect your claimed injuries, and therefore you have no further entitlement.鈥�

But either response generates criticism to Justin Trudeau. He is in a lose-lose situation.

I extend my sincere condolences for the loss of his limb to the corporal who contested PM Trudeau in Edmonton. I understand he is now a political activist, and I wish him well. He is one of many service men and women who have given, to varying degrees, to our great country, and is appreciated by the Liberal government of Canada.

But I am convinced that all service men and women receive the full benefits and pensions to which they are entitled.
