Editor: I was saddened by the news of the passing of Harold Hamon, in the March 30 Times. I was not surprised though at the outpouring of love and number of attendees at the funeral.

I had the privilege of meeting Harold last summer when my car broke down at work. I called another towing firm, but when I explained I would need a ride to where my car was, as I was at home a few kilometres away, the receptionist replied curtly, 鈥淲e鈥檙e a towing company, not a taxi service.鈥�

I phoned Hamon and Harold came to pick me up right away. When we picked up my car, I told him I didn鈥檛 know any mechanic so he called a friend of his and took me to his shop. There he waited for me as the mechanic gave me a quote, and later gave me a ride home.

We chatted amiably about life in 91原创 and how it鈥檚 changed over the years. When he dropped me off I was surprised when he only charged me $40.

鈥淚 believe in always charging a fair and honest price,鈥� he said.

I was so thankful for his generosity and kindness. It just goes to show a little kindness goes a long way. My condolences to the family. Rest in peace Harold.
