The big spenders have to go,

鈥淢unicipal spending grows four times faster than population鈥� reported the 鈥楥anadian Federation of Independent Business鈥�.

How do we sort out the way too many candidates that we get a chance to do every three years? It's simple.

Eliminate the current big spending so-called experienced councillors who consistently spent four times the population growth and twice the rate of inflation, and got us into this mismanaged property tax mess. These big spenders have to go 鈥� Grant Ward, Charlie Fox, Bob Long, Steve Ferguson, Bev Dornan, Kim Richter and Mel Kositsky.

Replace them with new councillors. Conviction trumps experience. Elect those who are most committed to hold the line on taxes. My picks so far are:  Rick Manuel, Ben Penner, Rick Green, Glen Tomblin, Dave Stark and Tony Malyk.

It's not a full list but I can鈥檛 vote for anybody who thinks it鈥檚 OK to increase our gas taxes to give to TransLink to squander north of the Fraser.

The fire department union, IAFF Local 4550, which is endorsing, campaigning and promoting most incumbent candidates is a straight up conflict of interest, as their agenda is to lobby council to increase more full-time firefighters, which is a huge property tax burden. You don鈥檛 see the public works department or any other department doing this.
