Citizens must take control

I believe we as citizens need to take charge, and the best way to do that is to be sure to vote in local elections, which are scheduled for Nov. 19.

Editor: Common sense would achieve greater utilization of tax dollars in the two 91Ô´´s, but two recent incidents suggest that there is little understanding of that principle.

High-priced bureaucrats in effect killed a citizens’ initiative, by having 91Ô´´ City council trash the idea immediately, even before it was presented to council.

In the other incident, a Township planning department bureaucrat, due to a legal clause in the Land Title Act, was able to supersede the duly-elected council.

This is questionable, and many could deem it a violation of authority. This does not bode well for local democracy.

I believe we as citizens need to take charge, and the best way to do that is to be sure to vote in local elections, which are scheduled for Nov. 19.

Here in the Township, we do not need to go through three more years of frustration.
