All hell breaks loose

In my opinion, prior to the arrival of Rick Green, the Township was run efficiently.

Editor: Rick Green, our current mayor, came out of nowhere in 2008. His slick ads in that election, where he promised, "there will be no increase in taxes, if I am elected," caught my attention.

My thoughts at the time were: "How can anyone make that statement? He only has one vote, just like all councillors. Any decision made in council is done by a majority vote. It is not just the mayor who can decide to change things, changes are made by majority vote in council."

I also that perhaps a rise in taxes is required to pay for things to be done. Obviously, Green did not know of the financial status in the Township, and yet he made that promise to not raise taxes.

He was either naive or he wanted to be elected - really badly.

There were, however, tax increases after Green became mayor (contrary to what he promised). These are  not a bad thing, as it costs a lot of money to operate a municipality like the Township. He did accomplish his goal thogh. He was elected.

In my opinion, prior to the arrival of Green, the Township was run efficiently. Although there were minor and many disagreements among the then-councillors, things went relatively smoothly and things were done. We residents were happy with their efforts.

And then Green arrived, and all hell breaks loose.

Rick Green, you will not get my vote.
